Simple & Easy

Just Read It!
The Bible
13 Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.
-- 1 Timothy 4.13
The Analysis
This week's Passing the Faith Along is about the importance of giving attendance to the reading of scripture. It's part of ensuring saturation of believers in the root of the faith, that is, the Bible. Notice that from the text there are three things that Timothy was supposed to focus on:

  1. Reading the Scriptures
  2. Encouraging the believers
  3. Teaching them
These three seem to flow out of one another. Begin by simply reading. God's word proves to be an encouragement to the believers. When the believers are encouraged by the Word, they are more likely to learn from it. The more they learn, the more they will read and so on.

The Application
Start reading. It sounds simple, and it is. Though this process is circular, there is an entry point: read the Bible. While I state the simplicity of the application, that is not to say that it is easy. I find it difficult to read the Bible. Running this blog helps me to stay on track, but it is still difficult. But the only way to apply it is to open it. The only way to open it is to be stubborn and do it. Be disciplined.

More Reading
Here's a list of some more reading in Timothy & about the Bible.
